Preservation, adaptation, and precision – this is how a new home is created from the existing.
Sometimes, an architectural project doesn’t begin from a blank page, but from an existing love—love for a material, for memories, for atmosphere. That was the case here: a home originally designed around a deep appreciation for beech wood, now renewed with a careful touch that preserves its unique character while introducing light, fresh energy, and contemporary materials.

The original house featured extensive use of beech wood—highly cherished by the homeowners. Rather than removing all elements made of this dominant material, we chose to preserve its presence and soften it by integrating complementary materials that balance and harmonize with the existing design.

In the upper floor, where the kitchen and dining area are located, we replaced the flooring to give it a lighter, more refined look. From the stairs leading to the living room and bedroom level, we used light oak wood—selected specifically to blend elegantly with the beech wood used in the railing, doors, and a few remaining pieces of furniture.

A key goal in the renovation was to introduce more natural light—especially in the dark kitchen area—and to bring a general sense of airiness and brightness into the home.
This is the result: a house that respects its past while embracing renewal with softness and balance.
